TEHRAN - The Constitution has defined the red lines and all citizens should respect those red lines, Judiciary Chief, Ayatollah Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi said in a meeting with the Trustee Board of the Center for Former Parliament Members.

According to an IRNA report on Tuesday, Shahroudi stressed that disregard for the experts and prominent figures of our society is a blunder, adding that political competition should be within an Islamic framework so that the capacity and talents of those experts are utilized in the most favorable way.

Shahroudi asserted that respect for Islamic values and principles should become a national commitment in political competitions and our Constitution and its modern principles should be an axis for all these competitions. The Guardianship of Jurisprudence and people are described as the main pillars of the system in the Constitution. "If there is a discrepancy in our system it should not lead to weakening of these two principles."

No political party should neglect these principles in achieving its political objectives, he said.
